Conversation led us to update this prayer using ordinary language to capture the original simplicity and honesty. Trying to make it feel authentic.

My Father
God
Your name is pure perfection
Be present with me now
Keep me on your path
Feed me today
I'm sorry
Move me to forgive
Keep me safe
You are in charge
You are amazing

What do you think? Does this work for you? What kind of prayer gets you connected to God?

Had a great conversation about the irony of this passage. Jesus is teaching his followers to pray simply, to pray quietly, to pray honestly. He then gives an example of a prayer that uses this approach. We are all familiar with his example and know it as the Lord's Prayer -- the prayer we pray LOUDLY and PROUDLY every Sunday in church. With our rote weekly ritual, we have completely lost the context in which Jesus was teaching. The words of a prayer are not the point. Jesus was teaching about the importance of a quiet, simple, honest conversation with God. It's from that place, from that connection, that we find God's purpose and unleash God's muscle into our lives.

I like the idea of the cross not being confined to the cup. What that means is I like the "main" road coming from out of the cup at the bottom right and extending beyond the cup at the top. The bold type for "The Road" seems easier to read than the "grungified" type. I like the Black "The Road" and "Christian Church" in white on the red chalice best. It is a clean sharp look. The green chalice is intriguing because of the green chalice we are ordering to use in worship. I still think the red is a recognizable logo and is more vivid. I think the road itself expresses the message of our church, I don't know if the added people add anything, it may look cluttered.
Peace on your journey, Carolyn
